Snow clothing, ski and snowboard rental in Bariloche, Argentina

If you're planning a trip to Bariloche in winter, you're probably already dreaming of the ski slopes, the snowy landscapes, and the incredible photos you'll take. But, if like me, you don't have specific snow clothing and equipment, don't worry!

I'll share some essential tips on where to rent everything you need to enjoy winter in Bariloche in comfort and style.

Why rent snow clothes and equipment?

When I first arrived in Bariloche, I quickly realized that the cold weather and snow require a very specific type of clothing. Buying these clothes can be expensive, especially if you don't live somewhere where you'll be using them all again.

The solution? Rent! It's practical, economical, and you can find high-quality parts and equipment at various price points.

Main places to rent snow clothes and equipment in Bariloche.

1. Mitre Street

Calle Mitre, in the center of Bariloche, is full of shops specializing in renting snow clothing and equipment. It was there that I found a wide variety of options for all budgets. Some shops offer complete packages, including jackets, waterproof pants, gloves, hats, and boots.

  • Personal tip : Try on the items in the store before finalizing the rental. The correct fit is essential to ensure comfort in the snow.

2. Rental Stations Near Ski Resorts

If you're heading straight to Cerro Catedral or Cerro Otto , you can rent equipment near those stations. Also, if you need to exchange anything, just go down to the shop.

  • Advantage : They usually have more modern and specific equipment for each activity, such as skiing, snowboarding, or snow trekking.

3. Rental Equipment - Bariloche

Here, the service is very good and the items are in excellent condition. The price is a little above average, but the quality makes up for it.

4. Bajo Cero - Bariloche

Based on a recommendation, we ended up renting our clothes from this place, as it was the most affordable.

Bajo Cero's clothing is a little more "worn out," but it's excellent, and since we only used it for one day, we ended up opting for this store where the complete set cost us 30,000 Argentine pesos per day, which converted to R$150.00.

This store has good service, and it's also very fast and straightforward.

The advantage here is that they accept Brazilian Reais (R$).

5. In hotel and inn shops

Many accommodations in Bariloche, especially those closest to the ski resorts, have partnerships with rental companies.

What should I rent to face the cold of Bariloche?

If you're not sure exactly what you'll need, here's a basic list:

  • Waterproof clothing : Jackets and pants to keep you dry from the snow.

  • Specific snow boots : Very important to prevent slipping and keep your feet warm.

  • Thermal gloves : They protect hands from cold and dampness.

  • Helmets and goggles : Essential for anyone who is going skiing or snowboarding. If it's a sunny day, you'll find that spending the whole day skiing with the reflection of the snow on your face is very uncomfortable and almost impossible, so be sure to put goggles on your list of essential items.

  • Ski or snowboard equipment : Including skis, poles, and boards.

Extra tips I learned through experience.

  1. If possible, book in advance : During peak season, the best options can sell out quickly.

  2. Compare prices : The cheapest store doesn't always offer equipment in good condition, so evaluate the cost-benefit ratio.

  3. Don't skimp on safety : Helmets and goggles are essential to prevent accidents.

  4. Bring an extra pair of socks : Wet socks can ruin your day in the snow.

Renting snow clothes and equipment in Bariloche was one of the best decisions I made to make the most of my trip. With the right clothes, you'll feel comfortable and ready to explore this magical destination. If I could give one final piece of advice, it would be: enjoy every moment, because Bariloche in winter is simply unforgettable!
